The Fraunhofer Institute for Silicate Research ISC in Wuerzburg, Germany, hosted a four-day workshop from October 23rd to 26th, 2023. This workshop was part of Task 3.1 within WP3, aimed at enhancing scientific excellence and capabilities in generating 3D wound models. The event, organized and overseen by Fraunhofer-ISC, featured both theoretical and practical courses and welcomed fourteen participants from Necmettin Erbakan University in Konya, Turkey.
During the workshop, participants received instruction on laboratory security protocols and the theoretical foundations of planned experiments. Practical sessions focused on the production of degradable fibrous 3D scaffolds using pressure-spun µm-fibers and electrospun sub-µm fibers. The practical courses covered the following areas:
Preparing fibers through various spinning techniques, including pressure-spinning and electrospinning.
Seeding cells into fibrous 3D scaffolds using cell culture techniques.
Staining and imaging cells cultured within fibrous 3D scaffolds.
On the workshop’s final day, participants convened to develop project ideas for future endeavors. Subsequently, a project management meeting took place on October 26th, involving project partners from Necmettin Erbakan University (NEU), Fraunhofer ISC, UKW, RCSI, AMBER, and TCD. Additionally, advisory board members Prof. Dr. Heike WALLES and Dr. Nils Bohmer participated in the meeting. During this gathering, participants discussed the project’s recent progress and explored its future plans.
